Living @ Theta Xi
The delta chapter of Theta Xi is MIT’s second oldest fraternity and is located in two beautiful brownstones in Boston’s back bay at 64 Bay State Road; Boston, MA 02215.
Academics @ Theta Xi
At Theta Xi, we recognize that an important part of your life at MIT is school, and we try to support that through a variety of methods. Our Scholarship Chair is responsible for the academic progress of our house, including organizing tutors and study breaks. We have an active relationship with our faculty advisor, Ron Roscoe. Every term, we have a number of members involved as TAs and LAs on campus, in a variety of classes. Additionally, our house GPA is one of the best on campus.
Social @ Theta Xi
We realize that you didn’t just come to college to hit the books. That’s why we have an active social calendar to give you a chance to relax. We host three to four major parties every year that are open to all college students - we typically have great turnout from Boston University, Wellesley, Simmons, and others, not just MIT. We also have several smaller parties throughout the year and have events aimed at members, including retreats, nice dinners, and boat cruises. At Theta Xi, you’ll have plenty to fill your schedule.
Athletics @ Theta Xi
Even though you’re at a school without a reputation for fine athletics, at Theta Xi, we have a host of sports and athletics to keep you in shape. Many of our members are involved in sports on campus, including crew and ultimate frisbee. If you’d prefer something less time-consuming, we participate in many IM sports, including soccer, football, ultimate frisbee, tennis, basketball, pool, foosball, table tennis, softball, and MIT’s 8-event octathon. If you’d prefer non-competitive sports, we have groups that go running and weightlifting together.
Community Service @ Theta Xi
At Theta Xi, community service isn’t a phrase that we throw around for fun, it’s a part of our brotherhood. We co-founded City Days, a community service event at the start of every school year that nearly 1000 people participate in. Our national fraternity’s philanthropy is Habitat for Humanity, and we also participate in fundraisers for multiple sclerosis. Additionally, we encourage our members to organize events for the house to participate in.
